While in Okinawa, he also began the study of Okinawan weapon arts. Among other ranks, he holds sixth dan in each of Shito Ryu Karate, Junse Goshin Budo Jujitsu, and Kendo ; fifth dan in each of Okinawan Shorin Ryu Karate, Okinawan Kobudo, Bojitsu, and Iaido, and fourth dan in each of Jo Do Osae Aikido, Judo (U.S.J.A. and Kodokan), and Osae Junse Aikido.
