NOTA (★)([英文版]「希望の日米同盟--アジア太平洋の海洋安全保障」)(Supervised by KITAOKA Shinichi and KUBO Fumiaki, Translated by Charles Stewart and ANAI Ikuo)(The Japan-US alliance has continued to deepen and develop over the past 60 years, responding to the security environment of the times. In the present day, however, the security order of the Asia-Pacific region is at an important turning point. China is intensifying its maritime activities, causing growing instability in the maritime security environment of the region. With the existing order of the Asia-Pacific now being threatened, the Japan-US alliance is an ´alliance of hope´ for peace and prosperity. /In this book, the authors --all specialists in diplomatic and security policy-- analyze the state of the alliance and discuss its future direction with respect to maintaining maritime security in the Asia-Pacific region. They have directed their research at the diplomatic and security policies not only of Japan, the United States, and China but also of other key players in the maritime affairs of the region, such as India, Australia, the Republic of Korea, Russia, and countries in Southeast Asia. And through this broad approach they have gained important insights applicable to the Japan-US alliance. ◆Dr. KITAOKA Shinichi [北岡伸一] is President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
